I am sitting here Listening to Antenna TV- we live in the country and don't get the best internet so no Netflix, to cheap to pay for DISH, and just love those old show!
Loving that I actually have one more week of free time in the evenings this week before the "Rat Race" of Track Season begins.
Thinking that these last two days have been such nice warm weather I am really hoping Spring is here to stay so I don't have to wear my winter coat anymore.
I am Wanting to teach my students how to do some of the coding apps teachers have been raving about, but don't have time to learn them so I am teaming up with another teacher so his students can teach mine. I will definitely keep you posted on how that goes.
Needing to get some TPT products finished that I have started. Need some motivation!!
Our school board is actually meeting today to decide if we will add 30 minutes to each day of school. 15 minutes before school and 15 minutes after school. I am really hoping we do it because I am so ready for summer!!
I did play a couple April fools jokes on my students today.
Go Noodle had a quiz the students had to take to be able to do Brain Breaks today. My kids so fell for this one. If you have not tried Go Noodle for Brain Breaks you have to check it out. My kids love that the avitar changes after every level you complete. We are on our second one and just started it a few weeks ago. Kids beg for the breaks and they are great!
I also had them searching for the LOOF LIRPA bird that had escaped from a zoo near us. I told them if they called its name Loof Lirpa that it might come and sit on them and that they might be able to catch it and we could take it back to the zoo. It worked really well since we kept seeing a shadow of a bird flying by our window every so often this morning. They came in from recess and said they saw the bird and called for it but it didn't come. Before they went to lunch I told them to look carefully at the words LOOF LIRPA I had written on the board. One student noticed Lirpa was April backwards so I quickly pointed out the it spelled April Fool backwards. They were all eager to trick their parents about it tonight.
And now for the Spring Giveaway which is no JOKE!
A fun, rhythmic, read-aloud book, Grandpa's Tree is the result of a walk through the park with my first grandchild, age three. Picking up an acorn, he stared at it for a moment and came running back.
"Grandma! Grandpa! Look what I found...a tree-egg!"
Struck by the truth of this innocent declaration, I sat down to write a whimsical tale of a boy who spends time in his grandpa's tree, where he learns some unexpected lessons about life in the tree, thanks to a sly, furry critter.
I approached a teacher friend at my school who recently published a couple of books. I was asking her about purchasing an autographed copy of her book to give away on my blog and she generously donated a copy to give away. Yeah!! I am so excited to help promote her book. It will make a great read aloud and I'm sure your students will absolutely love this book called Grandpa's Tree. This book is written by Sharyl Calhoun, a good friend and colleague at my school, and illustrated by Jennifer Ellingwood who is a daughter of another teacher at my school. You can read more about it here and order a copy from this link. You may also want to check out her blog which has some creative posts to encourage grandparents and parents to read with children.
I am also giving the lucky winner of the book a $25.00 Teacher Pay Teacher gift card. Please leave a comment below with your email and I will draw one lucky winner next week! Spread the word to your friends and send them on over to comment and have a chance to win too!!
